relational hurts
relational healing
Hey y’all, I’m Yumnah
So, you are considering therapy. Perhaps you are navigating a major life change like trying to conceive or moving through pregnancy. Perhaps you are facing a significant challenge like relationship trouble, divorce, or trauma. Or, maybe, you are grappling with the intersection of your culture and sexuality.
Either way, I am so glad you’re here! These experiences can be difficult and often feel isolating. You might be thinking, “no one understands.” Well, I’m here to listen.
Therapy can be a life changing experience. My introduction to therapy came by way of my own lived experience and it truly saved me. Over time, my passion for the power of relational work deepened while working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, childhood trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Yumnah Syed-Swift, LMSW
Whether you are facing intense trauma or you simply find yourself overwhelmed with your day to day life – you are welcome here. Times are hard, let this be your safe space.
In our work together, we will acknowledge the mind-body connection. Our bodies carry emotions, trauma, memories. Session to session, we will pay attention to learn the ways you and your body experience highs and lows.
If you choose to work with me, my goal is to create a space in our work together where you feel safe, accepted and heard. You can expect empathy, compassion and lighthearted humor in working with me, as we build skills and tools to help you move through life.
i am firmly committed to lifting others up
Prior to becoming a therapist and social worker, I worked in Public Relations, so I am definitely a people person, and it is that love of people that brought me to this work. As a woman of color with many hyphenated identities, I am proud to be able to provide culturally sensitive therapeutic practice, affirming all identities and backgrounds. I believe Black Lives Matter, trans women are women (and trans men are men!), and that our suffering as a whole won’t change until we truly learn to care for one another.
My hope is that we will work together to overcome challenges, manage emotions, confront past traumas, and create a vision for your future.
You have it in you, I’m just here to help you figure out how to get there.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, catching up on my latest Netflix binge, writing, reading and more recently, painting. I’m the most Libra Libra to ever Libra, and I can’t resist a good cup of chai and a cozy blanket.
