Defiance Doesn’t Have to Be Bad

Defiance often gets a bad rap, but, like many things life, it can actually be a really useful quality.

How many social justice movements have been propelled by defiance? If you’ve grown up in an oppressive household, wouldn’t defiance be useful? ⠀

One of the things I mentioned in a prior blog post was about how my defiance was a driver in my getting curious about how to cultivate some confidence. ⠀

To me, if we can name these parts for what they are and figure out how they might make sense or be useful, then we can break away from the stereotype of the word, like “defiance”, and make informed and intentional use of that particular quality.
